In this literature study, the effects of WS2, MoS2 coatings on wear and fatigue of spur gear wheels will be examined. As a result of the design, the machine parts used in the machines are worn during the operation process. This permanent deformation in tribology called abrasion occurs as material loss. The relative movement of the two machine elements and the mold under high pressure during the power transmission cause permanent deformation. As a result of the operation of spur gear wheels, which are among the machine parts, under difficult conditions, damage occurs in the profile of the gears as a result of wear. Since these damages will cause serious problems, it is necessary to know these damages and determine the causes of their occurrence in order to prevent them. In the gear mechanism that transmits motion and power, high pressure occurs on the tooth surfaces of the gears during the transmission of force from the pinion to the gear wheel. Because of this high pressure, abrasion on tooth surfaces and fractures occur on the edges of gears. It is one of the most important issues in the machinery sector to follow these processes and to take the necessary precautions before they occur when necessary. Studies on material losses due to abrasion, wear of gear wheels and other machine parts are economically important. In this mini literature study, different coating methods and WS2, MoS2 coating materials with lubricant properties, their mixture, the test set of gear wheels and the wear examination on the profile surface of the gears were examined on the material surfaces made of steel. The researchers' discoveries, comments and experimental results are discussed here.
