EFFECTS OF STATOR WINDING TYPES AND ROTOR SLOT GEOMETRIES ON MOTOR PERFORMANCE OF AN INDUCTION MOTOR FOR AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Today, with the decrease in fossil fuels, the demand and interest in internal combustion engine vehicles is decreasing. Need for clean environment and ecology is increasing, internal combustion engine vehicles cannot be efficient when waste and emission values are taken into account. In this case, electric vehicles are important choice for the automotive industry. In recent years, many companies have launched different designs and new model vehicles to the electric vehicle industry. Despite the lack of long usage experience on the customer's side, electric vehicles have received positive feedback. In addition, the motors used in these vehicles on the market; it has revealed different research and examination areas and benchmark studies on behalf of engineering. In this paper, the induction motor used in s60 base model electric vehicle produced by Tesla Company is examined. Patents on the induction motor used in the vehicle, studies in the literature and benchmark studies on the market have been examined. In this study, alternative stator winding types and rotor slot geometries are investigated. Simulation and analyzes of four different stator winding types with two different rotor slot geometries are carried out by using ANSYS-Maxwell program. Parameters affecting the motor performance are presented comparatively.
