PRODUCTION AND ANALYSIS OF LENSES AND REFLECTORS THAT CHANGE THE LIGHT ANGLE WITH VARIOUS PROTOTYPING METHODS
 
Designs built on geometric optics principles are quite common in automotive lighting. In order for automotive exterior lighting functions to have international validity, they must provide the necessary regulation values. In this study, the design and production methods of light angle changing optical systems designed for lighting functions used in automotive are explained. Optical systems were designed and virtual analyzed using Fresnel and Snell's laws. The designs, which were verified by virtual analysis, were produced from the resin by polyjet additive manufacturing method and by milling of resin blocks. Comparison of the measurement results of the prototypes allowed the emergence of the most ideal method. Thanks to this study, the verification method before mass production of optical systems to be used in automotive has been determined. The results of this study show that the prototype production method with polyjet is very close to the simulation results of optical systems regarding the verification method before mass production of optical systems to be used in automotive. It is very important in terms of cost and quality to verify the optical systems used in other mass production sectors, especially in automotive, before mass production. This study is not only for automotive but also for other sectors.
