SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN COASTAL AREAS IN URBAN PLANNING
 
Throughout history, port cities and ports have become an important transportation point and are important for cities. The challenge today is that most coastal cities cannot absorb a rapidly expanding port. National developments and population growth are among the important factors affecting the development of the city-port relationship. Developing a modeling for the purpose of sustainable development, port development and planning is necessary with more than required. This paper presents a comprehensive review of literature on urban sustainability, particularly for coastal areas. It is linked to minimizing the long-term uncertainties of developing coastal cities, evaluating its sustainable performance and developing methodology. These methodologies include the ranking of various long-term port plans. Economic, environmental and cultural value documentations are required to evaluate and interpret the development of the future sustainable port cities. Plans, measures and regulations are required for the planning of sustainable port and coastal cities. Within the framework of these plans, sustainable development can be aimed with an integrated approach to realize the maximum potential and to strengthen the port cities. Coastal regions are subject to pressures due to population growth and continuous expansion of human activities. Coastal planning is needed in order to protect cultural and natural values. Coastal planning projects should be carried out within the framework of spatial planning.
