DESIGN AND SIMULATION OF ON-GRID PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM ON A ROOFTOP OF A BUILDING AT ÇANKIRI KARATEKIN UNIVERSITY

Electricity, beyond becoming a basic energy, now shapes people's lifestyles. The increase in the human population and the electricity-based new technologies that come into use cause an increase in the global energy demand. While meeting the increase in global energy demand, it is necessary to use renewable energy resources efficiently in order to reduce the effect of greenhouse gases emitted by fossil fuels on global warming and climate changes. The uneven rise in energy demand after the recent Covid-19 pandemic has increased costs, and this increase in costs has brought into question the commissioning of nuclear power plants that have been shut down or some coal-fired thermal power plants that have been abandoned in some European countries. In this study, the potential, design and simulation of a grid-connected solar energy system on the roof of Çankýrý Karatekin University, Uluyazý Campus, Faculty of Engineering building in Çankýrý was investigated using PVsyst software. As a result of the study, with detailed electrical calculations, the annual amount of energy produced with 57 panels of 8.00x2.02 m dimensions was calculated as 85.60 MWh/year by using 228 modules with Si/polymer 265 Wp value in the fixed-angle system. According to these results, minimum 3.3% of the total campus electricity demand can be met by the system to be installed.
