With the development of science and industry and growth of population, due to the factors such as need for accommodations, economic issues and social changes, construction of high-rise buildings increased. Various types of buildings like residential buildings or offices pose many demands on the occupants comfort levels. Facades are one of the most significant part of high rise buildings which qualifies and quantifies the performance of the buildings. Facades must ensure parameters such as energy performance, occupant safety and occupant comfort in the case of thermal, visual, ventilation and etc. Besides, because of high rise building’s complicated construction structure, high population density, large fire load, different forms of fire propagation, rapid fire spreads, difficult evacuation, hardness of putting out the fire and etc. The behavior of high rise buildings in the case of fire is an important matter that facades must ensure it. In this study, the effects of facade design on fire resistance of high rise buildings has proposed. According to the literature review of this study, parameters of evaluation specified and based on parameters a questionnaire prepared. In the next step 25 high-rise buildings in Istanbul, Turkey determined. To get the most precise and accurate answers, interviews with at least three experts for each selected high-rise buildings done. The experts were a member of facade consultant, employer or design team. Eventually, based on information achieved Istanbul’s high rise buildings were evaluated.
