EXPERIMENTAL AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF 3D PRINTING PARAMETERS FOR PLA AND BAMBOO COMPOSITE MATERIALS IN TERMS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

Today, the use of wooden materials in production is aesthetically preferred, but different alternatives should be considered due to increasing costs. One of these alternatives is the use of plastic composite materials with additives in 3D printing. Here, instead of wood material, production with composite material, which is a mixture of Polylactic acid (PLA) biomaterial and bamboo powder at a rate of 20% by weight, is discussed. In this way, products with a wooden appearance can be obtained. In addition to obtaining a wooden appearance, the products made with this material should also provide certain mechanical properties when used instead of wood. For this reason, a total of 18 different experimental setups were designed from two different materials, PLA and PLA-Bamboo, with two, three and four outer walls, and with 25%, 50% and 75% occupancy rates. Tensile strength, percent elongation and Shore A hardness measurements were carried out from the products obtained according to this experimental setup. Taguchi L18 optimization was performed on these data. As a result of the statistical and experimental studies, it has been observed that the bamboo additive reduces the strength and percent elongation by approximately half compared to PLA material, thus creating a brittle brittle structure. On the other hand, it is observed that the bamboo additive increases the hardness on PLA material by approximately 5%.
