INVESTIGATION OF ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF PRINTED POLYMER COMPOSITES

Polymers are materials which are generally insulative in terms of electrical properties. Some filling materials must be added into the polymer matrix in order to make the polymers electrically conductive. The trend observed in conductive polymer composites, which has been an attractive topic for researchers and industry in recent years, is the production of flexible conductive polymer composites. Flexible conductive polymer composites are highly suitable materials for wearable electronics.Wearable electronics are systems or devices that are worn or carried by people in order to obtain extra intelligent assistant. Wearable sensors are one of the most useful systems that are used to monitor body or environment related inputs. They can be fabricated by using different rigid or flexible materials. Since textile products are suitable platforms, they are used as important components of wearable sensors.Textile sensors are functional materials that have esthetic appearance as classic textiles with additional electronic functionality. When compared with conventional sensors, textile sensors are non-rigid wearable systems that provide direct feedback. In the present work, a textile based strain sensor was designed and fabricated by using thermoplastic elastomer and conductive fillers. In the first step electrically conductive thermoplastic elastomer based composite was prepared and printed on the fabric. In the second step their electromechanical character was investigated.
