PRODUCTION OF ECO-FRIENDLY INSULATION MATERIALS FROM RECYCLED TEXTILES

Recently, environmental problems are increasing with the growing population and industrialization. Wastes which has a significant share in environmental problems has become a serious problem that needs to be controlled. The textile sector has an important place among industrial facilities in Turkey. Approximately 5% of the industrial solid waste amount in the Turkish industry consists of the manufacturing wastes of textile products. In this context, recycling and production of value-added products increase their importance for the textile industry. In this study, literature search was conducted to evaluate the thermal insulation properties of textile surfaces obtained by recycling textile manufacturing wastes. As a result of the literature research, it is aimed to contribute to the future studies in the design and production of low-cost insulating products by evaluating the performances of these textile surfaces. Knitted cotton - polyester fabric wastes from the textile production process will be turned into non-woven fabric by needle punching method and heat insulation material will be developed from this fabric. The material to be developed which high thermal resistance and waterproofing properties will be tested with experimental studies. In this research work, we aim to develop an eco-friendly insulation material from textile waste and to use this insulation material in the thermal insulation of textile machinery.
