RADIAL LINE SLOT ARRAY ANTENNA DESIGN FOR MICROWAVE LINKS
 
Radial line slot array antennas have the advantages of high gains, high efficiency, low profile and structural simplicity. These antennas are composed of two parallel metal plate and feeding probe at the center. A large array of radiating slots is strategically cut in the top plate to control polarization and radiation patterns. The other plate act as a ground plane and feeding probe is assembled there. The demand of high performance communication systems on moving platform such as aircraft, buses, ships and base stations are increasing day by day. To meet these system requirements, parabolic reflector antennas commonly uses. Despite of providing good directivity and efficiency, the use of parabolic reflectors on moving platform are constrained by their large physical volume, manufacturing and transportation difficulties. Radial line slot array antennas are alternative to parabolic reflector due to its high performance such as efficiency, directivity, low cost and easy manufacturing. By changing slot distribution on the top plate, performance of radial line slot array antennas can be further improved. These antennas are popular candidate for many applications such as Direct Broadcast Satellite Reception, Point to Point Microwave Link, RFID. In this study high gain radial line slot array antenna have designed for low cost microwave links. Some critical design parameters have introduced and their effect on the antenna performance is discussed. Far field radiation pattern, return loss and axial ratio are presented in detail with figures. End of study, future works about radial line slot array antennas are mentioned.
