European Union research projects have recently been a very popular topic for academics, technology developers, and end-user companies. Horizon Europe is one of the most important funding programs in Europe. It has a budget of 1.4 billion Euros between 2021-2025 and a total budget of 95.5 billion Euros in 2021-2027. Horizon Europe funding program supports R&I activities. The development of Horizon Europe project proposals, which serve the European Union's advanced research map and long-term goals, is a long, difficult, and complex process. In addition, the acceptance rates of the submitted proposals are at a very low level. Numerous promising ideas, use cases and business models could not be funded and were rejected by the EU Commission. It is clear that there is a need for a guideline in the literature for project writing according to the desired criterias. In this paper, the author lists the necessary steps for preparing a successful European Union project. These 8 steps; Idea generation, Identification of incentive programs, concept development, market review, consortium building, feasibility analysis, project writing, and submission. All steps are detailed in themselves and suggestions for successful project writing are provided. It is hoped that this study will result in a higher acceptance rate for future project developments.
